ULTRA RARE, ROYAL IRISH CONSTABULARY MARTINI HENRY CARBINE DATED 1875, and R.I.C. Numbered 9889 as issued,
.577/450” Martini Henry MkII service rifle by BSA&M Co 1875. Action marked to the right side with crowned VR over BSA&M Co 1875 II with broad arrow government owner ship mark. Walnut stock with regulation steel furniture with a cut steel butt plate typical of R.I.C.Issue Carbine's. Military proof marked barrel with ladder rear sight to 900 yards is Henry rifled. These rare late dated Mk2 rifles where Modified and Rebuilt to make them into the MK11 Artillery Carbine to be isued to the R.I.C. this one also has the SX mark to show it has had the "Strengthened Extractor" also has been breech cut for "Drill Purpose" this when the New R.I.C. .303 Carbine came into use, this saved this weapon as its continued use in the service of the Royal Irish Constabulary to help train New Recruit's ensured its survival! 21inch barrel , Carbine Sight,Good Walnut Stock all in V.G.Condition with much Blueing still in evidence. OVERALL A VERY RARE MK11 MARTINI HENRY ARTILLERY CARBINE, MADE EVEN RARER STILL BY THE BRASS IDENTIFICATION DISC IN THE STOCK SHOWING IT'S ROYAL IRISH ISSUE NUMBER (R.I.C. 9889 )
